The seed of a cricket club was sown in a coffee shop in Burnaby in October, 2006. A group of individuals, passionate about cricket, decided to form a club to promote cricket awareness amongst youngsters in Burnaby and throughout the Lower Mainland and to provide coaching for all members. Our membership includes amateur players, seasoned league players, and experienced cricketers who have played at inter-university and national levels back in India, Zimbabwe, etc.
In January 2010 we received the exciting news that IND-CAN Cricket Club has been accepted into the BC Mainland Cricket League (BCMCL). Finally the fruits of our patience and efforts paid off! We have been allotted our own home grounds at Burnaby Lake – East grounds .
Outdoor practice is held every Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. during cricket season (May to August). Games are played on Saturday/Sunday from 12:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. We have currently one team playing in BCMCL in Division 6 and have a Twenty-20 team in the T20 League Tournament running from September 11-26, 2011. The team is called the IND-CAN Blues. Individuals wanting to join our Club should contact the Club Secretary at rashmitasalvi@gmail.com
We also continue to play Indoor Cricket at Cameron Recreation Centre in Burnaby every Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon from September to April.
